Study Action Groups Schedule

What are Study Action Groups? Study Action Groups are designed to help you study a topic, take action to implement it, and gain benefits from the feedback of a small working group led by a faculty member that is an expert on the topic.

You will meet once a week for four (4) weeks by telephone, with participant numbers limited to 6.   We want you to be able to attend, no matter where you are.  Simply carve out 90 minutes a week for 4 weeks so you can turn your ideas into action – and test your thinking along the way.

Study Action Groups are arranged on this page by categories.

  • The "Transition" category is for people in transitioning out of being an executive or employee and into being an independent consultant.

Taking the Plunge to Self-Employed Consultant

Transitioning from an organized work situation, either executive or employee, can be more difficult than people imagine.  Being on your own as a self-employed consultant requires self-discipline, the skills to market and sell yourself, and the ability to hang in there when it gets tough.    As an employee, you were in a structured environment with company goals and objectives.  It was your job to implement for results and you may have been very good at this.  Now that you are on your own (or considering it), where will this structure and accountability come from?

Likewise, if you are considering consulting after a successful executive career, you may also find the transition difficult.  You have experience in creating a business mission, vision, goals, strategies and objectives but you often delegated that for others to implement.  It was carried out under your direction and you relied on others.  As a solo-preneur, wearing all these hats has taken down many others before you.

This is exactly the reason we have created our Study Action Groups for Transition.   They are designed to help you anticipate and plan for this transition in your life.  Because the challenges of transitioning are different for an employee and an executive, we have one for each of you.

Please visit our Study Action Group page for more information on these Transition groups.  Your investment up-front will pay off huge dividends down the road.
