Overview:
Writing a business plan can be challenging, but running your business without one is even more so.  The One Page Business Plan is a well-known, innovative approach to business planning and can be the difference between success and failure as a consultant.

Why join this Study Group?  Because it will help you create an easy-to-understand "road map" to identify measurable results, bring structure and accountability to your business, and help you monitor your progress.  Join us to dispel the following myths:

Statistics on business start-ups indicate only a small percentage of them succeed, and this statistic also applies to start-up consultants. The inability to get clients and generate cash flow is a major cause of failure. All our training is designed to help you avoid being a start-up failure statistic

Solo-practice consultants often spend less time developing their skills, learning and growing than those employed by large consulting firms.   Who has time to spend a full-day learning – and who can retain and sit for that long too?

Consultants Gold classes are designed to help you wherever you are in your consulting career: Considering or Transitioning, Launching, Better Marketing Your Services, Getting More Clients By Selling Your ServicesWe have much to offer during this initial launch, with plans to offer the classes below in the near future.

Transition and Launch:

Being Your Own Boss: The transition from employee to self-employed is not always easy. Consultants must be entrepreneurial, hold themselves accountable and often work.  This class includes a self-assessment to better understand the traits needed to make this transition, and whether this may be a strength or challenge for you. Since you are the most vital component of your business, make sure you have an objective appraisal of a key factor in your ultimate business success – YOU.

Building A Business Plan: In some ways, starting a consulting practice can be easier than starting other kinds of businesses such as a restaurant or retail business. This may cause consultants to miss a vital start-up piece – their Business Plan. Learn the key ingredients of building your business plan and a tool designed specifically for the professional consultant.

Getting Known – Marketing

Finding The Gold With Your Elevator Speech: Arm yourself with an elevator speech that identifies: Who you want to do business with; What prospects want or need from you; and Outcomes for clients who work with you.  Not only will prospects identify with what you have to offer, but they may even become a better referral source for your business too!

Speaking for Credibility and Clients: Prospect talks are a low cost way to find clients and position yourself as the expert. Learn how to create a short talk that can be used at Chambers of Commerce meetings, service organizations such as Rotary or other group opportunities. This is not a class on being a paid professional speaker – it’s designed to help you develop a targeted marketing message that provides value to your audience, and gains you clients and referrals as a result.

The Power of Networking: Going to a function and collecting business cards is not networking, it’s visiting.  This class will discuss three key elements of effective networking: having a clear objective before the event, preparing and arming yourself for the actions you will take during the event, and then implementing a follow-up plan after the event. Stop wasting time and money attending events with little marketing results for yourself.  Make sure your “Net” is working!

Tricks of the Trade Show: Much time and money is spent attending a trade show to market a company’s service. Unfortunately, 97% of most leads generated at trade shows do not result in clients or business.  The most common reasons are little or no follow-up post show, and the quality of the contacts is poor. Learn how to improve your chances of finding quality client leads, and what to do those critical days after your trade show.

Under-used Traditional Marketing Methods: With so much focus on social networking and internet marketing, several traditional marketing methods are often overlooked. Not only are these methods often under-used, but they may better fit into the start-up consultants limited budget.

Multiply Yourself – Ways to Generate Passive Income

Partnering and Alliances: This class offers ideas and examples on how to align yourself with other consultants and businesses for additional consulting prospects and business. The synergy of working with complementary businesses has many benefits: additional value to clients, opportunities you would never know about, and camaraderie to counter-act the isolation and potential loneliness of being a solo-preneur, just to name a few.

Passive Income Streams:  Most consultants only consider their billable time as a revenue source. This class explores ways to create passive income streams – ways to generate income without taking more of your time. Learn if you can create additional services that can make you money while you sleep.

Remember, our goal is to provide you with the information and resources you need to grow and sustain a successful consulting practice.  Why not become a part of Consultants Gold today?   If you have an idea for a class, study action group or service you would like to see us offer, we’d love to hear from you. WHAT IS A CONSULTANTS BUSINESS BOOT CAMP?

It's a comprehensive and accelerated program designed to provide you with the information, knowledge and skills you need to build a strong foundation from which to launch or grow your own business.

WHY SHOULD YOU JOIN A CONSULTANTS BUSINESS BOOT CAMP?

Because every day without paying clients increases your chances
of not being in business 6 months to a year from right now!

The #1 reason consultants go out of business is not lack of talent or expertise – it’s a lack of client revenue.

As an early stage consultant, you are seeking to grow your businessYou want success, clients and early results. Despite your talent and expertise, there is probably one main thing getting in the way of your success – the lack of a solid marketing plan and the sales expertise to implement it. The resulting lack of client revenue puts consultants out of business more than anything else.

Imagine what your business would be like if you had the systems, strategies and skills in place to consistently attract new clients.

I’m Jennifer Leake, Chief Mining Officer for Consultants Gold.  During my 20 years as a consultant, family moves around the country forced me to start my consulting practice from ground zero 4 times. I still recall the challenge of finding clients and the financial struggle.   Each time I made fewer mistakes, became profitable earlier and began to see a pattern of why some consultants survive and flourish while others struggle and fail.    It’s a tragedy when talented people fail at consulting – both for the consultant and the business clients who need their knowledge and skills.

Because of this love for consulting, my personal experience and seeing many talented consultants struggle to stay in business, I decided to create a high impact and powerful program to teach others what successful consultants have in common.  Armed with this knowledge and skills, we want to help you increase the chances you’ll have the successful consulting practice you want.

If you are thinking about, starting up or seeking to expand your business, Our Business Boot Camp is for YOU!  This accelerated and structured program is designed for business consultants who typically don’t have a lot of time, systems, support or money.    Why struggle with trial-and-error learning that is far more costly than this program could ever be when you can learn from those who have walked this path before you, in a format that creates accountability and implementation.

You can hire a team of successful consultants to guide you through a one, two or three phase process that will fine-tune your business vision and increase your marketing and sales skills.  Join us for one, two or all three of our 3-month sessions – whatever fits your needs the best. Armed with the ideas, support and accountability of key experts and peers, you are more likely to implement the actions needed to make it happen in 2010!

WHY YOU SHOULD ATTEND
  • The main reason you don’t have clients is no one knows what you do. Until you can comfortably and naturally answer this question, you won’t attract prospects and referrals.
  • All successful businesses have a business plan – Do you? Transfer those great ideas from your head and into a blueprint for your business to help focus your actions, keep you on track and guide you when making business decisions.
  • You need to challenge your mindset – SELL is not a nasty 4-letter word – it’s vital to your business. Increase your skills in marketing and sales to get more clients and make more money.
  • There’s no need to do this on your own.  This business can be lonely and exhausting, both mentally and physically. Surround yourself with fellow consultants who can offer advice when you need answers and moral support when you need encouragement.

How to choose the track that’s right for you:

Track
Transition
Start-Up
Business Building
Who it’s for
You are thinking of moving from a corporate or employee role to consulting

Consultants just starting out who want to build a solid foundation for a more sustainable and lasting business.

Consultants already in business who are in their first year or need to jump start an existing business

Outcome
You’ll decide if consulting is for you, and how to make the transition to solopreneur.
Identify and implement critical business basics, (including a Business Plan), as well as be able to answer that all important question, “What do you do?”
Missed opportunities – you never get them back.   This sales and marketing training is geared to teach new ways to find and get more paying clients.

How it Works
Personal Assessment so you can capitalize on your strengths and manage your weaknesses.
Study Action Groups: Weekly 90-minute small group learning with peers and a topic expert coach, designed to help you practice and implement key actions for business success.
Monthly TeleClasses – Guest coaches on topics important for success in the track you’ve selected.

You’ll also receive recommended readings for continued learning, access to transcripts and recordings of TeleClasses for on-going review, and membership into the Consultants Gold online community.

What are Study Action Groups? They are live workshops uniquely designed to help you take ideas and information, and implement them so your consulting practice grows and flourishes.

Ideas are great – but turning them into actions is what generates results.  One of the challenges of being a solopreneur is that there is no one to hold you accountable. Even if you attend a class, get valuable information and take great notes, how can you ensure that you will actually implement these great ideas?  If you have the discipline and self-motivation to do this on your own – wonderful!  If you're like me, you might find the structure, support and accountability of a Study Action Group will benefit you more.

Study Action Groups are small, made up of 5-6 participants and led by a topic expert who will help you and your fellow participants not only learn, but more importantly, implement and turn ideas into actions and desired results.  You'll meet for a weekly 90 minute phone conversation.  Once you have completed your 4 week study, you will find you have taken an idea, fine-tuned it and put it into action.  In addition, you may also have created a Mastermind Group for yourself.
